Integrated Assessment of Semi-industrial Districts Based on GIS in Kitakyushu
Nowadays, with the more and more intensified population-resource-environment problem, for the purpose of low carbon society in 2050, every city should establish a strategy for reducing the production of the greenhouse gas. From this point of view, with the consideration of land usage based on the area, the efficient usage of usable land and the regeneration of intensive urban district are recognized seriously. For a new vision of land usage based on current area condition, a more flexible method of land usage should be recognized. Moreover, proposals for current land usage, assurance for change and efficient usage of un-deveioped lands are necessary. In this research, with Kitakyushu as the research object, the year-based land usage is analyzed, moreover, research on the industry area which has big impact on the activation of the urban district are investigated. Finally, the recommendation is proposed. Based on the investigation, most of the area in Kitakyushu is forest and the area of urbanized area is less than half of the total. Therefore, in the real case of land usage, the reduction of farmland, grassland and forest are considered as big problem. There are two reasons. The first one is the deterioration of the natural environment. The other is the fact that with the development of the economy, there are more land requirement for the conversion of urban area. For the reduction of the farmland, even though the adoption of farming because of the population sparse is one of the reasons, the increase of road and house because of the urbanization is the main reason. Such a land usage change will result in more and more energy requirement, reduction of grain offer and the promotion of global warming. Based on the problem, we made two proposals in this paper. One of them is that with the fact of low birth-rate and aging society, intense the urban area to the central area so as to ensure the area of farmland, grassland and forest in the suburban. The other is that since the restriction of the structure for industry area is loose, move the public establishment and big stores to central of the urban area so as to make the central area more flexible.
