Suggestion and Guidance to Urban Planning of Xian Metropolitan Area Based on Urban Climate Analysis
With the urban construction in Xian metropolitan area, the urban climate is highly affected by the rapid urbanization and intensive mankind activities. The paper analyzes the features of urban climate in this region, points out that the urban heat island and air pollution are prominent issues which have to be considered, and also discusses the effects of layout of urban pattern and geographical environment in the area to urban climate. The paper indicates that the negative factors increase thermal stresses to the environment, block the ventilation and restrict the dispersion of air pollutions;the positive factors improve air cooling, promote air ventilation and wind circulation. Aiming at improving the urban thermal comfort and microclimatic condition, based on the urban climate analysis method, the paper presents some suggestion and guidance to urban planning of Xian metropolitan area, such as construct the ecological corridors of Weihe river systems to constitute a diverse and dynamic green landscape structure in this region, optimize the urban development pattern, adjust and improve urban space planning in different scales, for instance, offer some advice on the land use, street orientation, layout of the open space, green systems, ecological corridor, the building layout and dimensions and so on, in order to create the healthy and comfortable residential environment for urban inhabitants. The paper suggests that urban climate analysis method has an applicable prospect in planning and guiding urban construction in Xian metropolitan area.
