Application of Electrooxidation Process for Treating,Simulate Wastewater from Dyeing Industry with a Late-model Electrochemical Reactor
Dye wastewater is characterized by large discharge volume, complex components of organic matter, highconcentration of pollutants, difficulty of degradation, high decoloration and toxicity, etc. In the present work, the modeling dye wastewater was treated by application of alternate pulse electro-coagulation method. Decoloration and the removal of chemical oxygen demand(COD) of the modeling dyeing wastewater by combination of iron and aluminum electro-coagulation system was evaluated. The effect of different operational parameters such as the electrical time, applied voltage, the alternate cycle, the speed of stir, initial PH, the electrode gap, concentration of electrolyte and initial dye concentration were studied in an attempt to reach higher removing efficiency. The experiment results showed that the optimum operating conditions were the time 50min,the voltage 12V, alternate cycle 6S,the speed of stir 1000r/min, concentration of electrolyte 0.01mol/L, the electrode gap l.5cm and initial PH. Decoloration rate can go up to 95% and the removal rate of CODCr were 80%. From this research it can be seen that, alternate pulse electro-coagulation method can reduce energy consumption by preventing anodic passivation for the reason that polarity of the electrodes alternate all the time. If the both electrodes are different dissolvable electrodes, it can produce complex ironic coagulant to improve treatment efficiency, which is incomparable for conventional electro-coagulation. Consequently, it is essential to investigate alternate pulse electro-coagulation method and it has certain practical significance. The results show that the alternate pulse electrocoagulation method has the significant efficiency for decoloration of dye wastewater and removing COD and is feasible for wastewater treatment.
