Odour mixture Control by Biofiltration at Low Temperature

Hydrogen sulfide(H2S) and ammonia (NH3) was selected as the typical odour pollutants and was treated by biofilter packed with activated carbon at low temperature. The removal efficiency, operating parameters were investigated. Test results showed that ammonia and hydrogen sulfide elimination occurred in the biofiiter simultaneously. Greater than 99% removal efficiency for NH3 and nearly 100% removal efficiency for H2S were observed during operation. In order to meet the current ambient standard the maximum inlet concentrations should not exceed 237 mg/m3 for NH3 and 180 mg/m3 for H2S respectively. The optimal retention time were 30 seconds and ideal humidity was at the range of 40% ~ 60%.
