A Measurement Survey of the Winter Thermal Environment of Thatched Houses in Miyama, Nantan

This study is report of measurement in traditional thatched houses in winter season. The purpose of this investigation is collect information to improve thermal environment in this type of traditional house. The temperature vertical distribution of one room shows a severe thermal condition with more than 10 degrees centigrade in the result of a measurement of the indoor temperature. It has been understood that the inside is warm though the surface of the roof is cooled by convection from the temperature measurement results of a thatched roof.
