A Novel Local Node-Initiated Fast Restoration Mechanism for Control Plane in the ASON Network
A reliable feature of an ASON is expected by network carriers. In this paper, we present a Local Node Initiated Fast Restoration Mechanism, which allows the upstream node of a broken connection to initiate a path restoration process to the donwstream node of the failure link in the event of a link failure. Theoretical analyses and results show that the new mechanism can reduce not only the restoration time but also the blocking probability when compared with source-initiation mechanism.
