PRE-TREATMENT METHOD IN A BIO-DEGRADATION SYSTEM FOR EXTRACTING POLYCHLORINATED DIOXINS FROM CONTAMINATED SOIL AND SEDIMENTS

The acid-treatment was able to break the multi-layers structure of silt/clay fraction and to enrich dioxins by the elusion from a silt/clay fraction. The stronger crystal structure on the surface of a silt fraction was broken down by some acid-treatments, and the area on the surface of a silt fraction was enlarged, so that, organic compositions were extracted to the surface from the crystal structure of a silt fraction. In this paper, we discuss the validity of methods for pre-treating polychlorinated dioxins within contaminated soil and sediments prior to bio-degradation.
