PERSISTENT ORGANIC POLLUTANTS IN EGGS OF BROWN BOOBY (Sula leucogaster, AVES: SULIDAE) FROM THREE REPRODUCTIVE COLONIES ALONG THE BRAZILIAN COAST
∑PCBs and ∑DDTs concentrations in eggs of brown booby (Sula leucogaster) collected in the Atlantic Ocean archipelagos of St. Peter and St. Paul, Abrolhos and Cagarras were measured. The mean values observed for St. Peter and St. Paul and Abrolhos are considered to be low when compared with data in the literature. In contrast, the mean values found for Cagarras Island are high and close to the values considered to be harmful for birds.
