ANALYZES OF PERFLUORINATED COMPOUNDS IN SEWAGE AND DRAINAGE
We investigated analyzes of perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) including perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) in sewage and drainage samples. Use of an alumina + weak anion exchange cartridge column during solid phase extraction and washing them with 2 mL of methanol before elution was effective to decrease the influences from matrices. To validate the analytical conditions of LC/MS/MS, the capillary voltage was set in five stages from 0.5 kV to 2.5 kV. Examination of the optimum condition was executed. The peak areas of PFOS, PFOA, and other PFCs were largest when the voltage was set at 0.5 kV. The recovery rate of the internal standard and detection limit of each PFC were, respectively, 58–103% and 0.4–2.0 ng/L. Using this analytical method, we analyzed PFCs in the sewage water samples. The PFOS concentration was 2.3–26 ng/L. Compared with provisional No-Observed-Adverse-Effect-Level (NOAEL), it was very low and not thought to be harmful to the human body.
