PCDD/FS EMISSIONS FROM HAZARDOUS WASTE INCINERATORS IN CHINA
PCDD/Fs emission levels from hazardous waste incinerators (HaWIs) in China were evaluated. The 12 investigated HaWIs exhibited a large variation of PCDD/Fs emissions ranging from 0.01 to 7.79 ng I-TEQ Nm-3. 10 incinerators had the emission levels below the current emission standard of China (0.5 ng I-TEQ Nm-3), while 6 facilities exhibited emission levels below the European Union directive emission limit (0.1 ng I-TEQ Nm-3). For 2 plants, concentrations of PCDD/Fs in stack gas were above 1.0 ng I-TEQ Nm-3. The emission factors of PCDD/Fs from the investigated HaWIs were in the range of 0.07 to 116.80 μg I-TEQ ton-1 hazardous wastes. Hazardous waste incinerators had lower emission levels than municipal and hospital waste incinerators in China.
