TREND OF DIOXIN AND DIOXIN-LIKE PCBs LEVEL OF AMBIENT AIR IN GYEONGGI-DO, KOREA

Dioxin and dioxin-like PCBs surveillance of the ambient air have been performed as a local governmental body (Gyeonggi province) in Korea since 2001. The level of ambient was decreased by approximately 68％ with comparison between 2001 and 2007. The concentration of dioxin and dioxin-like PCBs in air declined from the earlier to the later period, because of the government action resulting for example in the shutdown of various medium and small scale incinerators. The concentration of dioxin and dioxin-like PCBs in air sample of residential areas in 2007 ranged from 0.068 to 0.091 pg-TEQ/ m3, the level of industrial areas in 2007 ranged from 0.242 ～ 0.345 pg-TEQ/ m3. These levels have been shown steadily declining and stable trend.
