PROTEOMIC ANALYSIS OF THE LIVERS OF CATFISH (CLARIAS FUSCUS) IN REGION EXPOSED TO DIOXIN AT MA DA, VIETNAM

Agent Orange containing TCDD (2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin) has a harmful influence on people and organisms in the exposed regions, especially in Ma Da during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1971. In order to investigate the long-term consequence of dioxin on wild animal, protein expression profiles in catfish liver tissues in Ma Da were examined by two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) and mass spectrometry. Twenty protein spots, which were differently expressed in Ma Da and Cat Tien, were selected for analysis. Of the 20 spots, 18 were identified including 6 up-regulated proteins, 6 down-regulated proteins in Ma Da; some protein spots were identified to be the same name. The proteins identified were members of diverse groups consisting of the proteins in growth and development processes, in tumor or cell proliferation suppression and stresses. These are Zinc finger protein, Zinc finger transcription factor Gata6, MxD protein, Especially, Protein kinase C (Fragment), Retinoid x receptor, beta –A, Src-like C, Groucho are proteins which have related indirectly or directly with TCDD signaling pathway.
