IDENTIFICATION OF EMERGING ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINANTS AND BIOMARKERS IN HUMAN BODY FLUID USING ACCURATE MASS MEASUREMENT BY HRGC-HRMS
Accurate mass measurement, proposed molecular or fragment formula, and isotope profile calculation are effective tools for identification of emerging contaminants, selection of accurate masses for monitoring them, and identification of potential interferences. We used these tools to develop a method to determine the dialkyl phosphate metabolites (DAPs) of organophosphate (OP) insecticides in human urine. This paper presents the detailed techniques of accurate mass measurement and derivation of molecular or fragment formula, using tools provided by the vendor or developed by ourselves. We discuss other techniques related to accurate mass measurement using a high resolution gas chromatograph-high resolution mass spectrometer (HRGC-HRMS), and present a new method for the measurement of DAPs with HRGC-HRMS.
