IMPROVEMENT OF DESORPTION OF HERBICIDE BUTACHLOR FROM SOIL VIA COMPLEXATION WITH CYCLODEXTRINS
The effect of three cyclodextrins (CDs) on desorption of the herbicide butachlor from soil was investigated. Formation of 1:1 stoichiometric inclusion complexes of butachlor with hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) and 2-o-methyl-β-cyclodextrin (2-o-M-β-CD) was confirmed by phase solubility studies, and the calculated apparent stability constants were 126 and 2663 L mol-1, respectively. Desorption studies of butachlor previously adsorbed on the soil has been carried out in the presence of 0.01 mol L-1 CDs or 0.01 mol L-1 CaCl2 as desorbents. Compared with 0.01 mol L-1 CaCl2 solution, CDs solutions increased desorption of butachlor. The results indicate that CDs solutions can improve desorption of butachlor from soil and be potentially used for in situ remediation of butachlor-contaminated soils.
