PREPARATION OF HIERARCHICALLY STRUCTURED CeO2-Fe3O4 COMPOSITE AND ITS POTENTIAL IN DEGRADATION OF CHLORINATED AROMATICS
A polyol process was developed to synthesize CeO2-Fe3O4 composite. The 3D hierarchical structures like microspheres were obtained. The microsphere had a rough surface which was built up of nano particles. The catalyst was then used for the degradation of hexachlorobenzene (HCB) as a chlorinated aromatics model. The results showed that CeO2-Fe3O4 is very active for the degradation of HCB since a 75% conversion (exclusively into lower chlorinated benzenes) was reached at 300 ℃ for 30 min with 50 as the mass ratio of catalyst to HCB.
