The suitability of Toughened Glass Stem Insulator for Korea high speed catenary system
This paper introduces several plausible hypotheses for Toughened Glass Stem Insulator (T.G.S.I) by surveying the field, hearing the evidence, analyzing the broken specimens, etc. The hypotheses were classified into couple of patterns, such as an electrical field, a physical field, and environmental circumstances. First, in case of an electrical field, amplitude and frequency for abnormal peak voltage data were collected. And T.G.S.I fatigue acceleration experiment conducted in test laboratory. Second, in case of a physical field, amplitude and trend of vibration in to the insulator were examined in the operation filed. Relation between proper vibration and collected vibration were estimated. Then resonance caused by proper vibration was examined. Also to consider climate condition, rate of expansion caused by temperature were examined according to the international standards. Finally, in case of environmental circumstances, flying possibility of gravel and ice clod was investigated. Several scatter detectors were designed and installed near the T.G.S.I in high speed operation line. Estimation was made by probability. Also to find T.G.S.I braking force and angle by gravel, pendulate hitting test was made under international standards.
