Unit Commitment Process Streamlining to Enhance Efficiency of Real-Time Operation
In daily generation commitment planning, an optimal scheduling of a number of different generation resources subject to a lot of operational constraints is required, and typically a unit commitment software tool is commonly employed. However, the generation planners need to input a large amount of data and fine-tune the solution in an attempt to achieve optimal solution with various complicated or subjective internal and external constraints taken into considerations. Especially in real-time operation, System Control Engineers may need to perform fast rescheduling in response to significant load variation or other plant condition changes. Therefore, to enable planners quickly and easily check and fine-tune the plan, a customized graphical interface has been developed to visualize details of the unit commitment schedule. In addition, this interface was designed to link to the EMS system and weather information system to monitor the real-time generation status, and allow fast rescheduling as required.
