Compensation Characteristics of a Novel LC Shunt Resonance Type Hybrid Active Power Filter
With advantages of both reactive and active power filters, HAPF (hybrid active power filter) has a broad application prospect. But presently, the current and voltage ratings of power electronic devices have limited the application of HAPF devices. Thus the capacity and cost reduction of the active power filter component is an urgent problem to be solved. A novel Shunt Resonance Type Hybrid Active Power Filter (SRHAPF) was proposed. The working principle of the new topology was described in details, including theoretical analysis, the influence on HAPF capacity and performance caused by LC shunt resonance. The theoretical analysis showed that the new topology can greatly reduce the fundamental capacity of the HAPF. Meanwhile, how to choose the key component was investigated and analyzed. The simulation results of the PSCAD/EMTDC has verified that the SRHAPF has better characteristic of harmonic suppression and reactive compensation, besides, the capacity of active power filter is far lower than the traditional ones. The results of the simulations show that the new topology is especially suitable for the applications in medium and high voltage systems.
