Application of state estimation to distribution substations to improve reliability

This paper introduces the application of state estimate algorithm to distribution substation system based on digital technology. Also this paper introduces the topology expert system to identify and correct an error of status information of switch in a distribution substation system. This expert system is a pre-processor in state estimation system. The least square state estimation and bad sensor detection algorithm based on the chisquare theory are used. The proposed system is now in the field test and it will be applied to the next generation digital power substation in Korea.
