Practical Total Transfer Capability Calculation Considering Transient Stability Constraints

In this paper, a practical total transfer capability calculation method considering transient stability constraints is proposed, which can be applied to large interconnected power systems. The main advantages of the proposed method include: load flow calculation convergence at each operating point in the process of searching transfer limit can be assured. different kinds of constraints including voltage limit, transient stability limit, generator operation limit, etc. can be considered comprehensively. reactive power compensation such as shunt capacitor and shunt reactor can be considered automatically. Given the worsening mode of system operating point by changing the power of generators and loads in different areas, transient stability constrained total transfer capability of a power system can be calculated automatically through detailed transient stability simulation of a group of predefined or selected disturbances. Test on New England 10machine 39bus system shows the validity of proposed method.
