Research on Dynamic Reactive Power Compensation of UHV Transmission based on MCR

Based on the analysis on harmonic components and their relationships of all branch currents of Magnetically controlled reactor (MCR), a simple type of mathematical model and the equivalent circuit of MCR were obtained and applied to UHV transmission line. Simulation block diagram of ultra-high voltage (UHV) transmission line based on MCR that clearly expressed the relationships of major physical quantities and line parameters was established. Through combining with engineering project and further researching on the application of MRC in UHV transmission line, the regulation range of UHV controllable reactor was calculated. Furthermore, according to the relevant theories of electric power system, simulation block diagram of real time reactive power/voltage control of UHV transmission line based on MRC was established on the background of Jincheng-Nanyang-Jingmen UHV AC Experimental Example Projects of State Grid Corporation of China. By measuring the active power and the terminal voltage of the transmission line, the trigger angle was obtained after calculating. Then the thyristors acted to regulate the reactive output capacity on real time via trigger module distributing trigger pulses.
