Stochastic Assessment of Fault-induced Voltage Sags in Power Systems
This paper presents an approach to assess system voltage sag performance. In the typical stochastic assessment of voltage sags, the expected sag frequency (ESF) at an individual sensitive load point is estimated. However, in order to establish systematic plans for voltage sag mitigation, it is necessary to determine and analysis network regions where the occurrence of faults will cause severe voltage sags at many sensitive load points. In this paper, network lines and buses where the occurrence of faults will simultaneously lead to voltage sags at different sensitive load points are determined and the ESFs at given load points are calculated. The addressed approach is useful for assessing the voltage sag performance of a power system and establishing optimal plans to mitigate voltage sags due to power system faults.
