An Evaluation of Power Supply Reliability in Microgrid considering Fault Type

It is considered that electric power supply reliability can be improved in microgrid system because it can operate even in case of outage in utility grid. Authors have developed the new algorithm to modify the protection relay action and power system operation when a fault occurs. The distribution network reliability evaluation method has been developed based on Monte- Carlo simulation. In this paper, our proposed simulation method is improved in order to consider the various types of faults such as; false operation, fault other than ground fault or short circuit fault, and fault with time to repair. The improved method is tested using microgrid model.
