A Study of Optimal Planning for PV Introduction in Island Power System

In recent years, energy resource problem and environmental problems such as global warming attract public attentions. Therefore, the introduction of renewable energy such as wind generation or photovoltaic generation is desired. It is necessary to examine the effect of distributed generators on voltage profile before they are introduced into the power system. In the analysis of island power system, it becomes problem the deterministic load model based on expected value is not sufficient to analyze voltage profile because the scale of island power system is small. Therefore, the authors have developed the probabilistic approach using Monte Carlo method for voltage profile analysis of island power system. In this paper, we develop a new planning method which can determine the optimal ‘allocation and capacity’ of ‘photovoltaic generators and storage battery’ using probabilistic voltage profile analysis method.
