Developing Advanced Technologies to Promote Implementation of Smart Grid in China
“Smart grid has become a hot topic concerning the future trend of power grid development in China and abroad in recent years. In this paper, the driving forces for developing smart grid in China are analyzed. The concept and main features of smart grid including its robust, compatible, self-healing, integrated, economical and optimized characteristics are discussed. The progress of advanced smart grid technologies developed in China-EPRI, such as PMU/WAMS, Information Collection System (ICS), energy storage technologies and FACTS and custom power technology, are introduced. Finally, some points of view for developing smart grid in China are explored.
