A integration scheme for equipment adaption into modern communication networks
This goal of this work is to present a flexible concept for integrating non-standardized equipment and machines into a modern IT-based environment. This will be achieved by using standard software components and adapting them to the needed task. Also a certain degree of real time capability in handling information will be introduced by optional hardware components. This paper will introduce the hardware, the software components and explain the proposed concept in detail. An example for an application with no real time capabilities and reaction times in the range of one second will be given. The example will include an interface for standard equipment previously monitored and controlled via a RS232 interface where the aim is not speed but comfort and a user friendly display of information.
