Improved Genetic Algorithm Application in Reactive Power Optimization of Wind Farm
The active power output and the reactive power consumption of wind farm changed with wind speed. Reactive power optimization is an efficient method to reduce power loss and improve power quality. Genetic algorithm (GA) can be applied in reactive power optimization. Traditional GA has some drawbacks, such as slow convergence and premature. The paper improve the coding method, genetic operators, crossover and mutation probability, stopping criterion in iteration. The reactive power optimization method with improved GA is tested in a MATLAB based simulation model. Results show that the proposed reactive power optimization method is simple and effective.
