Probabilistic TTC of a Power System Integrated with Wind Generation Systems
The deregulation of a power system has posed a new task to the system operator in managing the security problems necessary for the new market-based environment: the Total Transfer Capability (TTC) calculation. Although the TTC calculation has been well researched and conducted, a new method is still required to take into account the presence of the generation from renewable energy sources. Among them, wind power generation has received a great attention with a wide-spread use throughout the world. Nonetheless, a large penetration of wind power generation can pose a negative impact on the transfer capability due to its uncertain fluctuating output. This paper examines how the transfer capability is affected by the penetration of wind power generation. The uncertainty is fully realized and integrated into the calculation by means of the Monte Carlo simulation.
