The Vanadium Redox Battery for Emergency Power Vehicles Applications

A longer and cleaner emergency power is essential in the case of a power failure. Due to the limited capacity of the lead-acid battery and the pollution from diesel generator exhaust, the paper presents an emergency power vehicle employed the vanadium redox flow battery (VRB). According to actual situation, amount of the tanks and stacks are adjusted to change the capacity and power of the emergency power systems. The vehicles also are connected with each other by the external interface of the main pipeline and common DC bus to form a larger scale emergency power system. The emergency power vehicle employs a modular function architecture, which makes the system easy to upgrade and distribute, and also compatible with the energy storage station.
