Research on the Servo Lag Error and Compensation in Cam Non-circular Grinding Process

This paper studies the cause of servo lag error in cam noncircular grinding process and conducts the quantitative calculation of these servo lag errors. Due to the characteristics of cam noncircular grinding, the influence of servo lag errors on the cam contour error can only be reduced rather than eliminated by adjusting the numerical control system parameters. RBF neural network is adopted to predict the processing errors for cam non-circular grinding and the predicted values of super finish grinding are utilized to compensate for machining errors. The test results show that the prediction model based on RBF network is of great benefit to improve the precision of cam non-circular grinding.
