Traffic Sub-area Division Expert System for Urban Traffic Control

To control the traffic network effectively, and reduce complexity of traffic control, it is necessary to divide the traffic network to some sub-areas which are the units of traffic coordination control. This paper describes the characteristics of sub-area division system and designs an expert system based on integrated correlation index to trade off several demands. Traffic sub-area division expert system framework and knowledge representation method are set up, and inference engine is designed base on fuzzy logic. A case study of Zhangigang City in China demonstrates that this system can better solve multi demand in traffic sub-area division system. And the results of this expert system are similar with ones of expert in transportation.
