SITUATION AND TASKS OF CHINA HYDROPOWERR DEVELOPMENT
The main topics are China hydropower resource and its strategic position，China hydropower development in general and situation and tasks Of China hydropower development. China hydropower resource is ranking first in the world，technically exploitable potential is about 542GW and annual energy output will reach 2470TWh.China hydropower resource is in second place right after coal，it has very important strategic position，13 major hydropower bases have been planned by now.In 1949，China hydropower total installed capacity is only 163 MW, at the end of 2007，China hydropower total installed capacity is 145.26 GW,ranking first in the world.China energy sustainable development needs to develop hydropower,according to the newest development plan，by the year of 2010 and 2020，China hydropower total installed capacity will reach 190GW and 300 GW.Further effective measures shall be made to promote the hydropower development and environment protection in harmony.Make the laws and regulations more perfect to ensure better resettlement of site people.Change hydropower development concept，fromsufficiently develop water resourcetoreasonably develop water resource.Presently,China hydropower grid price is 0.1 RMB/kWh lower than that of coal power plants，it should be same grid，same quality,same price，the revenue that gets from hydropower will be applied to resettlement of site people and environment protection.In“5.12 Wenchuan earthquake，24 middle and large hydropower stations pass the strong earthquake test without collapse，including Zipingpu CFRD dam (dam height 156m) and Shapai concrete arch dam(dam height 131m).it indicated that dams built with modern methods，the characteristics of seismic resistance ale sufficient.
