DAM-BREAK ANALYSIS FOR EMERGENCY COUNTERPLANS IN FLOOD FIGHTING OF RESERVOIRS
This paper took the Xiakou reservoir as the example, analyzed possibly the main factors of the dam-break,referred the forms of the dam-break and made out 15 computational schemes.The dam-break flood and dynamic routing was simulated with the DAMBRK model developed by the National Weather Service(NWS).The results indicated that the dam-break flood peak was close with the area and duration ofbreach.However the relationship was faint between the dam-break flood peak with inflow discharge of the reservoir.To keep outflow facilities of the reservoir normal operation greatly will delay the dam-break and lengthen early warning time.It will be advantageous to the downstream populace’s safe.It is not doubt that the dam-break flood has very serious consequence to the downstream because of the 20m high flood wave.In order to be ready and reduce larger loss,it is very important that We discuss the new dam safety management,study the dam-break flood and work outemergency counterplans in flood fighting of reservoirs.
