AVAILABLE TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE REMOTE DATA ACQUISITION TO FEED THE REAL TIME WATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

摘要：

Telemetry(monitoring and control)，data acquisition and telecommunication systems are used for successful and efficient management and operation of different Government water systems including flood control，security control， etc.Monitoring of the status of the dam parameters and data processing including the running of telemetry systems，the control task， historical data retrieving，trend and report generation，receiving and storage of alarm messages is essential to ensure dam safety，flood management and drought mitigation.This paper describes available technology for remote data acquisition.The comparison of different data telecommunication networks with emphasized advantages and disadvantages will be presented.A case of flood management in the Vaal and Orange River System and energy saving management in Vaal Gamagara is presented.
