THINKING ABOUT CONSTRUCTION AND AND MANAGEMENT OF FLOOD DIVERSION & STORAGE AREA IN HUBEI PROVINCE
There have been built 42 flood diversion & storage areas until 1995 authorized by the State Council of the Peoples Republic of China and the Peoples Government of HuBei Province. Among of them,There were 3 times for flood diversion at Jingjiang Flood Diversion Area in 1954, the total flood diversion volume was 122.6x10 m ,which made a great contribution to protecting the Jingjiang River and reducing flood prevention pressure of Dongting Lake.There were 20 times for flood diversion at Dujiatai Flood Diversion Area in 1957, 1958, 1960, 1964, 1974, 1975, 1983, 1984 and 2005, the total flood diversion volume was 194.9×108 m3 ,which played a huge role of flood precention for plain lake district in the lower reaches of the Hanjiang River. There were respectively 3 times for flood diversion in 1954,1964,and 1983 at Dengjia Lake and Xiaojiang Lake domestic dike, which made a great contribution to overcoming many times flood threats in Hanjiang River.
