LAND USE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN UPPER YANGTZE RIVER BASIN AND LOESS PLATEAU TYPICAL SPOTS
As one important factor which influence soil loss， comprehending land use is necessary for soil loss evaluation.As the most important watersheds in China，Yangtze River Valley and Yellow River Basin have also been greatly attention for serious soil loss. Soil erosion study in Yellow River Basin keeps ahead in national congener research while in Yangtze River Valley,it is not much advanced because of lately begins.Keeping the two regions as parallel study objects is one effective method to improve soil erosion research in Yangtze River Valley.This paper choose upper Yangtze River basin and Loess Plateau， which also the serious soil erosion regions in these two watersheds as the study objects. Using spot check survey,four typical spots in upper Yangtze River basin and four typical spots in Loess Plateau where soil loss are serious were first confirmed.In every typical spot， taking one 1∶10，000 topographic map as the investigation target，surveying land use in field， statistics and comparison analysis the area indoor.Land use type choose agricultural land， construct land and un-avail land as the first grades，sloping field，woodland，grassland，etc. as the second grades.The results showed that： agricultural land is the major land use type both in upper Yangtze River basin and Loess Plateau， secondly is the un-avail land while construct land is the least.In upper Yangtze River basin，agricultural land holds 79.29％in total four typical spots and the proportion of construct land in total spots is 5.3 1％.In Loess Plateau，the two corresponding number separate is 84.58％and 5.00％.As to agncultural land，in upper Yangtze River basin，sloping field holds predominance，which is 72.57％of agricultural land and 57.54％of the four typical spots.Woodland is the secondly land use， which proportion in agricultural land is 20.82％and in total typical spots is 16.5％.And there is few grass land in upper Yangtze River basin.As to agricultural land in Loess Plateau，woodland holding the biggest area，then the grassland and sloping field.Woodland holds 42.52％in total typical spots and 50.27％in agricultural land.The proportion of grass land and sloping field in total spots are both about to 19％.The proportion of un-avail land in total spots is 15.41％in upper Yangtze river basin and 10.43％in Loess Plateau.Every type in construct land holds litter share in the two regions.From above numbers，we can say that，because of serious population stress， agricultural land hold absolute predominance， and because of the more population there exist more sloping field in upper Yangtze fiver basin than in Loess Plateau.Protecting the sloping field and defending soil loss are import both in upper Yangtze fiver basin and Loess Plateau.
