Cluster management and Cluster networking with respect to European digital industries
Europe’s leading digital industries are forming clusters with different stages of development. Prominent examples are Silicon Saxony, Dresden, Germany, or the Silicon Glen in Scotland, ranging from Edinburgh to Glasgow. In order to foster such clusters the new concept of cluster management has been successfully introduced. This contribution describes the built-up and growth of the Cluster for Micro technologies of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, a so-called green field investment of 10years of age. First hand analyses of factors of success and good practice of cluster management are provided. The R&D cooperation and networking among other European clusters of digital industries is demonstrating that there is room for co-operation among the natural competition of the clusters.
