Performance Evaluation of Web-based Distributed Systems For Inter-organizational Collaboration for Software Development

Inter-organizational collaboration in software development is a form of e-business alliance which may require the formation of new strategic relationships between companies spread in large geographic regions. In this new paradigm, the collaborative entities working in a manner which parallels the distributed production of physical goods by designing, developing and integrating software components produced by different partners located in different sites using networked computers around the world. Information systems to support such development activities must include protocols and standards to facilitate exchange among the distributed developers cooperatively exchanging information and knowledge to build software handling multiple tasks concurrently, while sharing resources remotely effectively, and rapidly responding to changing situations with trust in each others’ abilities to perform.
