THE RESONATOR CAVITY MECHANISM OF A RESONATING PULSE DETONATION ENGINE

The resonating pulse detonation engine is a new concept pulse detonation engine based on focused shock igniting the detonate wave directly. Because the physical process is very complex, until now the flow structure and the mechanism of detonation forming in the cavity has not been very clear. Based on numerical simulation, the flow field in the cavity of resonating pulse detonation engine is analyzed in this paper. The operational mechanism of the resonator cavity, as well as the whole process of shock forming, reflecting, and focusing is emphasized. The results provide a theoretical basis for the further work of design and experiment.
