CALCULATION ANALYSIS ON HEAT TRANSFER FOR A GUN BARREL OF MULTIPLE CONTINOUS FIRING

According to the heat transfer characteristics of barrel during firing process of full-combustion cartridge charge, the temperature changing law of inner and outer gun barrel surface of single firing was obtained by coupling calculating the interior ballistic equations and the heat transfer equations using two sets of one-dimension two-phase model of interior ballistic and axisymmetric unsteady heat transfer model. The temperature change law at different position of inner and outer gun barrel surface and the axial temperature distribution of inner and outer gun barrel surface after every firing during continuous firing 10 rounds were obtained by continuous simulation. The calculation results indicate that: the tiptop temperature of inner gun barral surface during firing is near the cone; The variety grads of inner gun barral wall along with time is most in interior ballistic period and less in ulterior period as well as thereafter, The thickness of barrel wall distributing differently along axis is a important factor of effecting on temperature of outer gun barrel surface. The calculation results provide reference for the heat transfer processes analysing of gun barrel and security of propelling charge.
