STUDY ON FIRING RANG DISPERSION OF BASE BLEED PROJECTILE CAUSED BY INCONSISTENT BASE BLEED UNIT WORKING

The main characteristic of base bleed projectile compared with common traditional projectile is longer firing range but bigger dispersion. One of the important factors affecting range dispersion is the difference of working characteristic of base bleed unit. Three kinds of inconsistent aspects, including the ignition delay time, the time of base bleed unit working and the much bigger mass deviation of base bleed propellant grain caused by fragment peeling off, were investigated in this present paper according to the mathematic simulation method. All of them were based on the models of interior ballistics and exterior ballistics, and the theories of independent random hypothesis. The values of firing range changed by average per-unit ignition delay time, working time of base bleed unit and mass deviation were obtained. The numerical simulation result of the value of firing range changed by the ignition of delay time was good agreement with the result obtained from testing. The results of study provided important reference for engineering design.
