TIME-ACCURATE NUMERICAL PREDICTION OF LIGHT STORES SEPARATING FROM THE AIRCRAFT
Due to the high unsteady and turbulent character of the flow field, the accurate numerical simulation of stores separating from an aircraft continues to be a challenging problem, especially for relatively small, light stores separation because they are more sensitive to the unsteady flow field. A chimera method which can provide an efficient and time accurate calculation is developed to predict unsteady fluid flow involving moving geometries in this paper, and numerical simulation of a light store separating from an aircraft with various ejector forces is investigated at Mach 0.6. The results show that the store properties and ejector forces affect the store trajectory greatly. The location and value of forward ejector force has a significant affect on the computational results, most notably for the predicted pitch angle.
