NUMERICAL SIMULATION AND EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF TANDEM SHAPED CHARGE JET
Tandem shaped charge warhead is an effective way to increase penetrating performance against hard target. In this paper, image processing techniques and numerical simulation which is a good measurement was used to study the deforming process of penetrating jet from a tandem shaped charge without delay time device. Some important information and parameters which can be used to estimate penetrating jet have been gotten, such as liner material distribution and interrelationship of jet from the first and second charge individually, velocity distribution, tip velocity, diameter, mass and energy of jet from tandem shaped charge model at deferent time. The result indicated that the liner of second charge influent badly the first jet at the early time of deforming process of second liner. After improving the structure of tandem shaped charge, the result indicated that two effective penetrating jets from first charge and second charge individually can be connected well in linear series. Compare the single charge with simple cone liner, same diameter and explosive mass, the improved tandem shaped charge can increase 30%~50% penetration depth.
