FORMING MECHANISM OF LINEAR EXPLOSIVELY SHAPED PENETRATOR BY END INITIATION

Linear explosively formed penetrator (LEFP) is an optimal combination of linear cutting sword and conical shaped charge. Because of its distinctive features of longer flying distance, greater destruction area and higher action accuracy, LEFP can not only be used in many civil fields, such as aerospace and demolition blasting, but can also be used as an effective military destruction unit. Propagation of detonation wave caused by end initiation and the effects of detonation product on the liner were studied. Liner movement was solved through analyzing it as a three-dimensional issue. Formation conditions of LEFP and rational charge construction were reached in theory and were verified by experiments and numerical simulation. This research work expands the LEFP theory and its concerning conclusions have an important guiding significance on the study and improvement of linear cutting sword.
