DESIGN AND EXAMINATION OF THE DIODE LASER INITIATING AND IGNITING SYSTEM

Under the background of engineering explosion, oil field exploration and blasting operation, this paper depicts the research and development of laser initiating and Igniting system. These works deal with laser initiator and igniter with standard connector, small-scale diode laser generator and one to threeway optical fiber splitting and transmitting technology. A laser simultaneous initiation or ignition system can be realized by comprising of a diode laser, a large diameter fiber optic, a multiway splitter passive coupler and laser initiators or igniters. Main performance tests of the initiation system for mining and blasting applications were performed, indicating a high safety and reliability.
