SIMULATION OF MULTIMODE EFP BASED ON ANSYS
The cutting mechanism for Multimode EFP (ExplosivelyFormed Projectile) with copper liner was analyzed. The method of Lagrange arithmetic of Ls-Dyna3D was used to simulate the formation process of multimode EFP based on ANSYS software. The dynamic behavior of copper liner under high strength, high strain rate and high explosive load was analyzed. A cross metalwire cutting device is set in the foreside of the warhead to cut the EFP into expected shapes when exploding. The warhead will form a single EFP with high efficiency, or multiple smaller EFPs. Appropriate mesh type and density were chosen to mesh the copper liner, cutting wire and the explosive charge properly in the modeling. The relative positions of the liner to the incision wire at different moments were given, which means that to get multimode EFP by one shell is reliable.
