MAGNETIC STABILIZATION OF ELONGATION OF METAL SHAPED CHARGE JETS

The goal of current work was prediction of obtained growth in shaped charge jets effective length under different parameters of magnetic field influence. Investigations were carried out based on numerical modeling. For determination of magnetic field influence on the deformation character of different parts of a jet, a axisymmetric conductive rigidplastic rod model with variable cross-section was used. Geometrically congruent shaped charges with diameters 50, 100 and 150 mm were investigated. The length of impact region along the axis of shaped charge varied from one to five diameters, and induction of influencing magnetic field-from 10 to 50 T. The calculations have shown that it is possible to count on significant increase in jets effective length (up to double increase) when magnetic field is tens of Tesla. The calculations also allowed to prove the significance of scale effect-the efficiency of magnetic field influence grows, as the jet diameter increases, which is connected to slowing of diffusive processes.
