PENETRATION PERFORMANCE OF THE NANOCRYSTALUNE COPPER SHAPE CHARGE

Material test system (MTS) and Split Hopkinson Pressure bar (SHPB) were adopt to research the mechanical properties of the nanocrystalline (NC)copper with the grain size of 20-180nm, the stressstrain curves of the NC were obtained at the strain rates from 10-3-103s-1.The undetermined coefficients of the Johnson-Cook constitutive relations were fitted with least squares theory. The influence of the grain size as well as the strain rate on the mechanical properties of the NC was also analyzed. The Ls-dyna2d finite element program was adopt to research the penetration performance of the NC copper shape charge as well as the coarse copper shape charge. The results show that NC has remarkable strain rate sensitivity which is decrease with the increasing of the grain size, the penetration performance of the NC shape charge is superior to that of the coarse-grained copper shape charge.
