STUDY ON THE ACTION MECHANISM OF THE PENETRATOR WITH ENHANCED INERTIAL LATERAL EFFECT
Because the action effect of the penetrator with enhanced lateral effect (PELE) on the thick target plate is not good, the authors make progress in the structure innovation and design a sort of ammunition called the penetrator with enhanced inertial lateral effect (PEILE) ammunition. This sort of ammunition balances the performances of penetrating and blasting. The numerical simulation of the penetrating process is carried out with finite element program in order to test this sort of ammunition. The calculation results show that the principle of the penetrator with enhanced inertial lateral effect ammunition is feasible and the action effect on the thick target plate is obvious. After the numerical simulation, a penetrating experiment is conducted. The experiment results show that the experimental results are in good agreement with those of the numerical simulation.
