NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF THE RESPONSE OF THE ARMOURED VEHICLES TO THE LANDMINES
This paper presents an example of the use of numerical methods to design a satisfactory protection against landmines for two armoured vehicles (Defender and Tatra). The Defender car has been tested against the detonation of mine with fragments. The detonation of a blast mine (6 kg TNT) bellow surface layer is considered in the case of the Tatra truck. Two positions of mine have been considered: bellow wheel and bellow the car centre. Cars have been modelled using the Lagrange shell elements, sand and air have been modelled using the Euler elements. Connection of single parts of the cars has been described using of binding equations. Engine was considered as a rigid body. Its connection to the car mainframe was simulated using spring elements. The LS DYNA 3d finite element code has been used. Constitutive equations of single materials have been determined experimentally. From the results the displacement, velocity and acceleration inside the car cabin have been evaluated. Their values have been compared with some up to now performed results.
